    Andrew graduated with a B.A.Sc in Nanotechnology Engineering from the University of Waterloo. His current research focuses on the development of new nanomaterials for use in light emission.

    Andrew completed his B.Sc in Chemistry at Concordia University in Montreal, QC. Following his undergrad, he pursued graduate studies at Princeton University under the supervision of Greg Scholes studying photosynthetic light harvesting using ultrafast optical spectroscopy and theory. He then transferred to UofT to join the Sargent group. He is currently interested in the synthesis and photophysics of CQDs and their applications in light harvesting.

    Chengqin Zou received her Bachelor degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Tianjin University in Tianjin, China. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate with research focused on electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to renewable fuels. In Prof. Sargent group, she’ll continue as a major goal to produce fuels via electroreduction method with inorganic nanostructures.

    Golam completed his BASc and MASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. During his master's degree he explored the use of  waveguides coupled to quantum emitters for deterministic single photon interactions. He is currently a PhD candidate interested in colloidal quantum dot and perovskite based devices for light emission and solar cells.

    Jeffrey graduated from McGill University with a B.Eng. in Honours Electrical Engineering with a minor in Software Engineering. For his undergraduate research he investigated the magnetoresistance dependence of hydrogenated graphene in high parallel magnetic fields. He is currently a MASc candidate interested in perovskites for light emission and photovoltaic applications.

    Jixian received his Bachelor in Electrical & Optical Information Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology, where he studied about the Electrical Design, Optical Communication and Integrated Optics. In the same place, he received the M.A.Sc. of Optical Engineering, worked on projects about laser 3D imaging and spectroscopy. He is currently a PhD candidate doing research in CQD based solar cells using novel materials and architectures.

    Liang Gao (Highlight) received his Bachelor Degree in Optoelectronic Information Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China. He is currently a Ph.D candidate from Prof. Jiang Tang's group in Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO), with his research focused on infrared photovoltaic and photodetector.

    Olivier a complété son baccalauréat en génie physique à l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. Ses projets de recherche ont touché les composants de fibre optique, l'imagerie biomédicale, la communication en champ proche ainsi que les MEMS. Il est présentement candidat à la maîtrise et se concentre sur l'étude des CQD et des pérovskites pour des applications en photovoltaïque.

    Petar completed his Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Nanotechnology Engineering from the University of Waterloo. During his undergraduate studies, he spent 7 months at MIT as a student researcher under the supervision of Professor Vladimir Bulovic where he investigated novel nano-electromechanical systems for low power applications. He is currently a Ph. D. candidate researching the photo-physics and exciton transport mechanisms of novel quantum dot and perovskite materials for applications of next generation light emitting devices and photovoltaics.

    Phil completed his B.Sc Chemistry at the University of Windsor where he worked with Dr. James Gauld on computational studies of enzyme catalysis. He continued with his M.Sc Chemistry at the University of Ottawa where he worked with Dr. Tom Woo on computational materials studies of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for carbon dioxide capture and storage. Phil is currently a Ph.D candidate specializing in material discovery for carbon dioxide conversion catalysts using a combined computational and experimental approach..

  • Rafael Quintero-Bermudez

    Rafael completed his B.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia where he worked with Dr. Lukas Chrostowski on silicon photonics bio-sensors. He later acquired his M.Sc. in Physics, specializing in Photonics at the Friedrich-Schiller Universitat in Jena, Germany. In Jena, he studied Second Harmonic Generation enhancement by means of slow light in photonic crystals. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate interested in studying new materials for applications in light harvesting and light emission.

    Jancy graduated with Bachelor degree in Materials Chemistry from Beijing Jiaotong University, China. She did her research on the synthesis of perovskite quantum dots in Beijing Jiaotong University. In Ted’s group, she will focuse on the optoelectronic applications in perovskite materials.
